The career of Will Langhorne, who mainly raced in formula and sports car classes, is characterized by the fact that since it all started he has remained faithful to the kart racing.
To participate in the Supercup at his home race in Indianapolis was reason enough for Will to go on with the series with the MRS-Team for the second half of the 2006 season. After his Porsche Supercup debut in 2002 and the guest starts in the MRS-Team, the American from Washington D.C. tackles 2007 as a complete year in Europe's fastest brands cup.
Will Langhorne's four wheeled adventures started when he was 7 in the rolling hills of Virginia at his grandmother's farm. His great uncle had karts that he had made himself and passed around the family. He spent his summers tearing through horse pastures and back roads. It wasn't until later that he would have a chance to race wheel to wheel and test his skills.
For high school and college ski racing would be the passion that occupied his desire for speed. He dedicated himself year round to competing at the top levels of ski racing until his sophomore year in college.
The next challenge would take him back to four wheels. Will turned back to driving with the knowledge and skills that he had honed through the years in ski racing. The physics translation between skiing and cars is direct. The approach and discipline are the same. Only now he can avoid getting frostbite.
The Skip Barber system would teach Will many lessons to get him on his way in race cars. Will captured Rookie of the year Honors and a Championship title in the Formula Dodge series. In 1996 and 1997 Will ventured to England and Europe to test the waters across the pond. It was a great opportunity to race on some of the most famous tracks of the world like Silverstone and Hockenhiem.
In 1997 and 98 the majority of his efforts would center on the Barber Dodge pro series. His abilities in street circuits would become apparent with great results in the street of Detroit and a win in Grand Rapids.
This would carry over into a dominant win in the rain soaked streets of Vancouver in 1999. The street races are a true equalizer just behind rain races. Combine the two and you have the ultimate race.
1999 would see Will partnering with Active Motorsports for the first time in his Atlantic Rookie campaign. For the 2000 Atlantic Championship Active Motorsports and Will Langhorne competed with an eye toward the future in the Champ Car series.
In 2001, Will drove in the Grand American Road Racing's SRP division. Driving in the Indy Racing League was a goal the Will reached in 2002.
200
3 saw Will driving in the International F3000 series with some of the best drivers in the world. Driving in F3000 gave him the opportunity to showcase his talent on tracks throughout Europe.
